Update: (03-01-2018)

The interior work is complete and the new addition is occupied. The exterior work is complete and ready for punchlist.  Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

Update: (02-01-2018)

The interior of the new classroom addition has been substantially completed. The State Fire Marshal inspection has been completed. The State of Tennessee Certificate of Occupancy has been obtained. The concrete sidewalks around the building have been completed. The concrete ramp from the north side of the new addition down to the existing covered playground area has been poured. Commissioning for HVAC units and equipment was completed. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete any outstanding punch list work
  • Make adjustments or corrections from commissioning
  • Furnish and install handrails for concrete ramps
  • Complete landscaping

Update: (01/01/2018)

The interior of the new classroom addition appears to be very close to completion. The contractor is currently completing interior punch list work. A temporary occupancy permit has been obtained. The furniture has been delivered and installed. Most of the concrete sidewalks around the building have been poured. Final inspections and approvals for electrical and elevator work must be obtained prior to occupancy. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete interior punch list work
  • Complete all work in compliance with State Fire Marshal inspections for final occupancy
  • Commission HVAC units and equipment
  • Furnish and install solid surface tops on lockers
  • Continue final grading work
  • Furnish and install handrails for concrete ramps

Update: (12-01-2017)

The new classroom addition is dried in.  Interior painting is ongoing. VCT flooring installation is complete. Ceramic tile work is ongoing. The stairs have been installed. The above ceiling work has been inspected and approved. Ceiling tile and lighting is ongoing. Millwork has been installed. Final HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work continues. The intent is to have the interior of the new addition ready for occupancy when staff & students return in January 2018. Final inspections and approvals must be obtained prior to occupancy. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete window treatment
  • Electrical trim out
  • Install doors & hardware
  • Signage installation
  • Install rubber base
  • Plumbing trim out
  • Locker installation
  • Clean and punch list
  • Delivery & installation of furniture
  • Complete exterior retaining walls
  • Continue final grading work
  • Start work on concrete ramp & walks

Update: (11-01-2017)

The new classroom addition is nearly dried in. The work over the past month has included the completion of the majority of roof work. All interior masonry work appears to be completed. The concrete topping slab has been installed over the main level precast concrete planks. The stairs have been installed. The elevator installation is in progress. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work continues in the lower & upper levels. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Install the site drainage lines.
  • Backfill to finish grade.
  • Form & pour concrete walks.
  • Install site retaining walls.
  • Install exterior joint sealant.
  • Flooring and rubber base installation.
  • Finish painting.

Update: (10-01-2017)

Work on the new classroom addition continues to progress. The work over the past month has included second floor masonry, installation of roofing materials, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work in the lower level and parts of the upper level. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Install the stairwell in the new classroom addition.
  • Pour the 2”concrete topping over precast concrete planks in the new addition.
  • Continue the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work in the lower & upper level of the new classroom addition.
  • Complete the installation of the exterior face brick.
  • Complete the installation of the foundation drainage and rough grading on the east and west side of the addition.

Update: (09-01-2017)

Work on the new classroom addition will be the focus of construction since the work associated with the start of school is complete. The work in progress for new classroom addition includes masonry work on the second level and HVAC & electrical work on the lower level.  The exterior spray foam insulation has progressed. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete the installation of the second floor masonry for the new classroom addition.
  • Complete the stairwell in the new classroom addition.
  • Pour the 2”concrete topping over precast concrete planks in the new addition.
  • Install the roof joists for the new classroom addition.
  • Continue the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work in the lower level of the new classroom addition.

Update: (08-01-2017)

Work on the interior renovated portion of the building was the focus of construction in preparation for the start of school. All interior finish work for new classrooms in existing areas and the work associated with the new teacher workroom & cafeteria expansion were priorities. The completion of the expanded cafeteria was also a priority. These areas were ready for students by the start of school. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete the installation of the second floor-precast planks in the new addition
  • Complete the masonry walls in the new classroom addition.
  • Continue to progress on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work in the new addition.
  • The roof joists and parts of the ductwork has been installed in the new library space.

Update: (07-01-2017)

Work on the exterior CMU walls of the classroom addition continues to progress. It appears that interior work for new classrooms in existing areas and the work associated with the new teacher workroom & cafeteria expansion are priorities. These areas must be ready for students by the start of school.   Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete the new Spanish Classroom
  • Complete the interior remodel for new classrooms in the west wing.
  • Complete Cafeteria expansion.
  • Complete new teacher workroom, lounge, and receiving area.
  • Complete temporary barrier between occupied area of the existing school and the construction work that continues.

Update: (06-01-2017)

Work on the exterior CMU walls is ongoing. The walls and openings for the new library are complete. Retaining walls are complete.  Footing drains from behind the retaining wall are being installed. Demolition in the existing building has begun. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Place the slab on grade at the lower level of the new addition
  • Complete exterior CMU bearing walls for the lower level of the new addition
  • Install sprinkler riser at the lower level
  • Electrical trim out in new Spanish Classroom
  • Ceiling grid and floor installation in new Spanish Classroom

Update: (05-01-2017)

The concrete footings & CMU foundations are complete. CMU walls and door frames are underway. Under slab rough-in is in progress. Retaining walls are complete. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Water proof concrete retaining wall and install drainage mat.
  • Complete under slab rough-in and begin to pour slabs.
  • Begin bar joist and roof deck installation
  • Begin electrical & plumbing wall rough-ins
  • Complete door frames and CMU for lower level

Update: (04-01-2017)

The concrete footings, CMU foundations and sub-base are complete. The installation of conduit and other utilities to be installed below the new concrete slab is in progress. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete masonry installation to grade on the south end of the new addition.
  • Install sprinkler riser and underground rough in.
  • Place and finish the slab on grade and begin bearing walls.
  • Install stone base for the slab on grade for the north end of the addition.

Update: (03-01-2017)

The contractor office trailer is established. Excavation stock pile area has been established. Excavation for the lower level of the new addition has been completed. Removal of some utilities is in progress. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Sanitary sewer line installation.
  • Site utilities relocation.
  • Foundation for the lower level interior retaining wall.
  • Form and place concrete for the interior retaining wall.
  • Foundation installation for the addition.

Update: (02-01-2017)

Site grading permit was obtained during January 2107. Safety construction fence has been installed. Erosion control has been installed. Site demolition has begun. The construction trailer has been set on site. Construction parking areas have been established within the limits of construction. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:

  • Complete the removal of existing power poles that used to feed the portables.
  • Complete the demolition of existing concrete sidewalks.
  • Stake the building.
  • Begin footing excavations.

Update: (01-01-2017)

Plans have been submitted to Codes and a building permit is forthcoming.
