Update: (10/01/2018)
The contractor will celebrate the topping out of the Phase 1 addition with a party on October 5, 2018. All project stakeholders have been invited. There will be a community project update meeting on October 25, 2018 in the school library. Work in progress consists of removing formwork, CMU partitions, electrical feeders, sheet metal hangers, dowels/frames, HM door frames, in wall plumbing, above ceiling plumbing, sheet metal install, & exterior walls. The traffic signal design work at the new school entry off Hillsboro Pike is complete. The work is being priced by Public Works contractors and will be coordinated with the Hillsboro HS contractors. Improvements within Hillsboro Pike is time sensitive and has been coordinated with Green Hills Mall. This work is not planned to begin until after Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. The work related to the new north entrance off of Glen Echo (aligning with Benham Road) will delete the last remaining practice field, and will begin after football season. Anticipated work items over the next month includes (but is not limited to) the following:
Installing fill at the old football field to raise the elevation of the finish grade for the new field.
Cornice brackets /framing
Roof screen supports
Set roof curbs
Retaining wall footings
Retaining wall forms
Excavation for new sewer line in front of the existing school
Removal of tables and decking where concrete work has been completed
Furnish and install rebar for footings

Update: (09/05/2018)
The Hillsboro HS – Addition & Renovation project has continued to progress without conflicts between construction and school activities. The work on the Phase 1 addition has reached the roof of the third floor. Work in progress consists of installing formwork, reinforcing steel, placing concrete, CMU partitions, electrical & plumbing rough in work. The project is still on schedule to move into the Phase 1 addition in July 2019. The schedule will continue to be monitored in order to reach that milestone. Upcoming work that will require substantial coordination includes completing storm water improvement work in Hillsboro Pike, traffic signal work at the new school entry off Hillsboro Pike, and the new roadway entrance off Glen Echo. Improvements within Hillsboro Pike is time sensitive and has been coordinated with Green Hills Mall. This work is not planned to begin until after Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. The start of school opened without conflicts between construction and school activities. The work on the Phase 1 addition has reached the third floor. Work in progress consists of installing formwork, reinforcing steel, and placing concrete. The storm line from the stadium to Richard Jones Road has been installed. The temporary student parking lot along Hillsboro Pike has chip & tar and has been striped. The project is still on schedule to move into the Phase 1 addition in July 2019. The schedule will continue to be monitored in order to reach that milestone. Anticipated work items over the next month includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Blasting for rock excavation is complet except where required for Phase 1 utility excavations. Work in progress consists of installation of underground utility pipe, installation of reinforcing steel in foundations & columns, concrete pours for foundations and columns. Concrete pours for floor slabs and retaining walls. A Meeting with TDOT and Metro Water Services has taken place in efforts to coordinate work required in Hillsboro Road. Anticipated work items over the next month includes (but is not limited to) the following:
Continue to coordinate construction activities with anticipated school and summer activities.
Foundation excavations.
Processing submittals for approvals.
Maintain all safety precautions in accordance with state and local regulations for rock removal.
Installing fill at the old football field to raise the elevation of the finish grade for the new field.
Excavation for new storm line under the football field.
Layout footings, install reinforcing steel, and pour concrete footings.
Layout columns, install reinforcing steel, install column forms, and pour concrete columns.
Furnish and install radon piping, vapor barrier, and WWM in concrete slabs on grade.

The Contractor continues to submit shop drawings for the Architect’s approval. Blasting for rock excavation is anticipated to continue into the month of June 2018. Precautions & warnings for rock excavation by blasting are still posted on signs around the construction site. Work in progress consists of excavation, rough grading, installation of underground utility pipe, installation of underground plumbing pipe, installation of reinforcing steel in foundations & columns, concrete pours for foundations and columns. Anticipated work items over the next month includes the following:

The Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit NRS 17.222-Hillsboro High School has been received from the State of Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation, Division of Water Resources. The Contractor continues to submit shop drawings for the Architect’s approval. Blasting for rock excavation has been coordinated with student testing dates & times to ensure there is no construction noise or disturbance during testing. Precautions & warnings for rock excavation by blasting have been posted on signs around the construction site. The blasting for rock excavation is anticipated to continue through the month of May 2018 +/-. Work in progress primarily consists of excavation and rough grading. Rebar has been pre-tied in preparation for pouring footings. Anticipated work items over the next month includes the following:
Continue to coordinate construction activities with anticipated school and summer activities.
Continue drilling & blasting for foundation excavations.

Update: (04/01/2018)
The building permit for Phase 1 has been received. The Contractor continues to submit shop drawings for the Architect’s approval. Student testing dates have been reviewed with the contractor to ensure construction noise is not present during testing. Precautions for rock excavation by blasting has been reviewed with the Nashville Fire Department. The Phase 1 demolition appears to be complete. Another temporary walkway from the parking area on the west side of the Votech Building, directly to the west Votech building entry, has been installed to assist staff. All construction areas have been barricaded and fenced for safety purposes. The contractor’s construction offices are established on site. Anticipated work items over the next month includes the following:

Continue drilling for foundation excavations.
Implement all safety precautions in accordance with state and local regulations for rock removal.
Rough grading work.
Install new fire service line.
Begin foundation work.
Begin trenching work.
Update: (03/01/2018)
Permits for partial demolition and site work has been received. The grading permit has been received. The Contractor and subcontractors have mobilized on the site. The parent arrival and dismissal vehicular routes has been established on site. Temporary student parking areas have been established as well. A temporary pedestrian connector from the existing school building to the Global Annex has been constructed and in use by students. New security cameras have been installed to monitor the the temporary pathways during construction. The Phase 1 demolition appears to be nearing completion. The football stadium has also been demolished. All construction areas have been barricaded and fenced for safety purposes. Anticipated work items over the next month includes the following:

Obtain the full building permit.
Complete small gym demolition.
Complete the canopy above the existing school building and Global Annex connector.
Install electrical power to contractor office trailers.
Begin drilling for foundation excavations.
Begin blasting for rock removal.
Begin rough grading work.
Update: (02-01-2018)
Permits for partial demolition and site work has been received. The approved Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan has been implemented on the site. The Contractor and subcontractors have mobilized on the site. The areas to be demolished in Phase 1 have been barricaded and fenced for safety purposes. Anticipated work items over the next month includes the following:
Obtain the full building permit.
Assist staff, students, and parents to navigate safely around the construction barriers and fencing in order to keep everyone on site safe during the Phase 1 demolition work.
Establish new parent drop off and pick up areas for arrival and dismissal.
Complete new temporary student parking along Hillsboro Pike and at the entrance from Richard Jones Road.
Install barricades at entrances into the interior courtyard where the Phase 1 demolition starts.
Install construction job trailers in the construction mobilization area.
Install GC and subcontractor equipment storage units, staging, and soil stockpiling in the existing football stadium.
Install storage units for administration and athletics in the recycling parking lot.
Complete the separation walls between the existing building and areas to be demolished.
Install new security cameras to monitor temporary pathways during construction.
Complete demolition work for Phase 1.
Furnish and install new temporary connector between the existing building and the Global Annex (this connector will be used for the next 2 years +/-while Phase 1 Work is completed).

The project is in review for permitting. Asbestos abatement work is complete. Plans are in place to begin work during the winter break. Anticipated work to be performed over the next month includes the following:
